Mika & Jonah's Tailgate Wedding Shower

A few weeks ago I was priveleged to photograph Mika & Jonah's Tailgate Wedding Shower. It was so much fun. There were inflatables for the kids, food on the grill and lots of socializing, but most importantly, family and friends came together to get this lovely couple off to a good start.
Here are some of the more formal pictures I took from the day.

I loved how they had "Team Justice" shirts printed up for everyone in the bridal party. So much fun!How cute was this cake?!!?

I just thought this one was cute! $$$$

One of my absolute favorites from the day. So cute!

And how could I turn away this picture of the grill and the cook?

Mika & Jonah with her mom, who I've known since I was born. Love this family!

The girls and their shirts....What a great team!

And the lovely couple....at the end of the party.

Congratulations Mika & Jonah on your recent marriage. May God bless your marriage for many decades to come!

Contact me if you're interested in having a party or special event photographed. Party packages are available!

Hilary...blogged...finally!

I was sitting here in my office today and realized that I’m 7 SESSIONS BEHIND!!!!! On blogging that is. What’s with that? I think the main problem has been that school let out and three graduations and several other end of year activities later have left me with no time until …gasp…ALMOST JULY! Anyways, I still want to catch everyone up on my latest sessions and take time to show off some graduates I’m very proud of at the same time!

Here's Alyssa...my favorite K4 graduate!

And my cousin Morgan!

And nephew Josh!

And….
Meet Hilary!

She’s a beautiful, talented; now graduate of Burch High School here in Delbarton. I caught up with her at Josh's graduation for a quick picture!

Things I know about Hilary now that I didn’t before:
She has a great singing voice. I got to hear her sing at her graduation and it was lovely.

Hilary loves sports and played them in High School.

She’s loves WVU…like most other West Virginians..lol

And she’s totally fun to spend an afternoon with!
Here are some of my favorite Hilary pics!

Thanks Hilary for allowing me to photograph you! You're gorgeous!

Neice & Nephew

During late Summer of '09 I posted some Senior Portraits of my nephew and promised to post more after I had completed his formal session. A few months ago we pulled out my studio equiptment and finished up his session. I got very busy and forgot to post them though! Sorry Josh!
Here are a few of our favorites from that session!

(Josh designed his own announcement from the picture below and it was one of the most unique graduation invitations that I've ever seen! I can't wait to see what Josh accomplishes when he goes to CCAD this fall!) If he will give me permission I'll post part of it a bit later!

During the past few months Josh's little sister Debrinna, my neice also asked me to do some pictures for her and I forgot to post those as well. Sorry Brinna!
Meet my beautiful neice!

Update & Snapshots from New York!!!

This month has been somewhat busy for me. As the trees are blooming and outside starts to look "pretty as a picture" again, I've been doing a few more sessions. (Blogs to come soon!) I also had a wonderful opportunity to go to New York with Jeremy and his 6th grade class during spring break. It was so much fun! Here are a few snapshots from the trip!

This is a partial view from the Empire State building at night. I was a little sad I didn't bring a really wide angle lens. Mental note for next time!

Times Square at night. I would be TERRIFIED if the electricity blinked while standing here!

The Lion King on Broadway was definitely my favorite part of the trip!

A drive by shot of the Apollo!

A pretty statue in Central Park.

Another view from Central Park.

HUGE Toystore! Alyssa sure would have spent a lot of time in here! lol

The inside of St. Patrick's. It was unlike anything I've ever seen. This is just one small segment of it.

The Brooklyn Bridge :)

And Lady Liberty!

I should be catching up on things in the next few weeks and the blogs should start coming more regularly now that the sunshine is back in business.

Here is a sneak peak from Hilary's Senior Session:

& a Sneak Peak from Jessica McCoy's session last Saturday!

Busy week of dances, pageants and some basketball!

Last Friday I had the privilege of photographing a great group of kids at the elementary school where my husband teaches for their Sweetheart Dance. (I think that was the name of it anyways, as it's been rescheduled from the Snowflake Dance since December, January, and February due to the horrible weather we've had this year. I noticed we were all calling it something different, but I guess as long as we were all there, that was the important thing!) I had lots of fun with these kids and can't wait to get their pictures out to them. I've been an editing fool :)

Then early on Monday morning I photographed the RCS homecoming pageant. Those girls looked so pretty! I was really impressed with the answers to the questions they were asked. After that I headed to the gym that evening to take pictures of homecoming court and get some action shots for their homecoming game.

Then, on Tuesday, I headed over to the Williamson Fire House to set up for the RCS Homecoming Dance. (Again, rescheduled from inclement weather from a few weeks ago.) Thankfully these kids were blessed with a beautiful day to get ready for this occasion, and I think everything looked awesome. It was so much fun working with them!

I'm thankful for a productive week!

A little change will do you good!

Hello all of you wonderful people in internet world!

For quite some time I've been thinking about making a fan page on Facebook. Everyone keeps telling me I should, and I could always see how easy that would make it to network with people, but for some reason I could never bring myself to sit down and do it. On top of that...a fan page, for me..really? Isn't that a little much? A little arrogant? Well, this morning I woke up and decided I was going to bite the bullet. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I did! Through creating this fan page, I realized this is more for me personally than it is anyone else. Not only have I been able to really see the progression of my work over the years in doing this, but also because I'm a huge fan of the totally amazing people that have allowed me to peek into their lives, to document big and small moments and turn them into lifelong memories.

I have chosen to start out by adding my favorite wedding pictures from the past 4 or 5 years...WOW, I've really been at this that long??..(it really doesn't seem like it!) As I added my favorite pictures from these weddings, I sort of took my own trip on an emotional rollercoaster down memory lane. I get a little attached to my clients. Sometimes rather quickly, because they've all been so great. Chances are if I've photographed your wedding, I've stood there and teared up enough to have to wipe off my camera during the middle of your ceremony. Sometimes more than once!

These brides are so dear to me. I've been blessed by working with so many truly wonderful families during these past years. Wonderful brides, grooms, parents and extended families that I can not say enough good things about.

I hadn't looked at many of these pictures in years and the flood of memories that came back to me were incredibly touching. This collection of photographs aren't "just other people's wedding pictures". They're a huge part of my life, too. I've seen these families go on to have children, start new careers, and build new futures for themselves. I've also from afar witnessed loss and sadness in their lives. I find myself affected by those moments as well. I'm attached in a way that I never thought would be possible when I started this. Most of my brides have kept in regular contact with me, letting me know about these changes and often allowing me to document those changes too!

I'd like to say to each of you, "Thanks so much for allowing me to go on this ride with you"

So if anyone reading this decides to "become a fan" of JDP, please realize that I'm probably a bigger fan of my clients than anyone could ever be of my work.

Amanda & Shane's Christmas Wedding

I love Christmas weddings. When Amanda & Shane contacted me about photographing theirs, I was very excited! If you've been reading my blog for a while you will probably remember them from their engagement session in early 2009. You can see the blog from that session here!http://jenniferdavisphotos.blogspot.com/2009/05/amanda-shane.html

Here is a collection of some of my personal favorite moments from their day. Amanda and Shane, here's a look at your day from my (and Jeremy's) perspective. I want to thank you for allowing me to be there with you.

Answer to your first question...Did your picture upload funny? NOPE
While editing I always find myself playing around with different angles to crop pictures into and stumbled across this. Once I had it on my screen I simply didn't have the heart to delete it. In fact, I think I love it..lol I'm allowed to do that, right? Anyways, I wanted to share it. I think its timeless and says something about the happy couple's relationship through their body language. They look completely comfortable here. It was actually the first moment they both sat down all day long.
Yeah, I think its a keeper.

Love the vintage feel of this one, and Amanda's killer smile. Happy genuine times here!

Your second question, I'm sure...Why is this bridesmaid writing on the bride's shoe?
Amanda chose to have special sentiments written on the bottoms of her shoes from all over her bridesmaids. It was her something blue!

Love this one..

And honestly, I don't think words are needed for the look on Shane's face here!
My favorite formal of Amanda. She's beautiful.
My favorite formal of the happy couple. I can't resist posting it!
FIGHT! Shane, she got you pretty good!

And then you paid her back 7 fold! (Note for those who were not in attendance..it got messy!)
