Blankenship Maternity Session

What's more fun that photographing a great family? Getting to photograph them twice! A couple of years ago I had the privilege of photographing the Blankenship family. We updated their family portraits a couple summers back during an outdoor lifestyle session and I was thrilled when Angela contacted me about a month ago to inform me that a new addition to the family would soon be arriving. It's so much fun to stay in touch with the families that I get to work with!

Here are my favorite family portraits from their latest family/maternity session. You can tell that little Hannah is very excited about her baby brother coming!

She's going to be such a good Big Sister!

Angela looks great! She's one of those women that just glows when she's pregnant!

Here is my favorite individual of Angela from the day!

I think that Ben and Angie may have a UK fan in the making on the way!

This is one of my favorites from the day! Hannah showed me these name cards and I had to include them in a picture!

I think these little shoes are just precious!

I just had to get one of Hannah all by herself. She's grown so much since the last time that I photographed her! She was so very patient with this whole picture taking process. She's about the same age as my Alyssa!

And this is how we ended the session. A nice, real family moment on the couch. :)

Best Wishes to the Blankenship family. Congratulations and let me know when baby Luke arrives!

Reminder: If the Angie & Ben get 25 unique comments they'll get a free 5x7!

New Year, New Packages!

Hello Blog Friends and Followers!

I just wanted to post a quick blog to let all 2010 brides out there know that packages will be updated effective 01/01/10. If you want to lock in a package currently offered on my blog, then call me or email me prior to the new year. They will not have the same contents as they do now as of January 1st.

I have some goals (we won't call them resolutions, because I generally don't stick to those very well) for the upcoming year.
1. To become more personal in my entries on this blog. I want to share who I am and let potential clients know more about me. I feel this will help in the "getting to know you" period before your session. If we're happier and more comfortable together on your session day, then your pictures will reflect that in a positive way!
2. To take more pictures, every single day. (These could be of anything, but I want to return to my old habits of shooting something in an artistic way most days of the week.)
3. To offer new and exciting concepts and products to you! Keep your eyes open for details that will follow in coming months :)

So I've decided to post some family pictures on this blog. All blogs are better when there are pictures to look at and by posting these, I'll be making my first small step into personalizing this blog (Goal #1)..CHECK!

Meet my family. The cute, sassy 4 year old is my daughter Alyssa. The people behind her, well of course that's my amazing husband and myself!

Meet the Davis Family! (I set my camera up in my kitchen and asked my brother-in-law to snap the trigger for us. Here is our official Christmas '09 family portrait :) (BTW, this is a new backdrop for 2010! Brides if you're interested in a grey backdrop for your formals let me know!

Jeremy snapped one of me...and asked that I use it for the blog. I'm meeting my end of the bargain so he will be happy.

Alyssa is about as full of attitude as they come.

I love how they look at each other. It's sweet defined. (BTW, a photographer should have no problem photographing her own child...right? WRONG. She's as interested in all my equipment as I am and I have a terrible time getting her to focus when I try to take her picture. It doesn't happen as often as it should!) In order to distract her, I ALWAYS have to get her to hold something. Over the years I've become very creative in the props I've had to choose for her.

My favorite of Alyssa and me!

And of course a formal posed shot of the two of us.

She pouts a little.

Maybe my favorite of her from the day!

Or...maybe this one?!?!

Blogs from sessions shot in late December will be coming soon!
Happy New Year!

Mary Beth & Brad's Wedding

First off, even though I'm a day late, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Secondly, I'd like to post some favorites from Mary Beth & Brad's rehearsal and wedding that took place on the weekend of October 24th. The wedding took place at the First Presbyterian Church in Pikeville, KY. (This blog will be a little different than some of my previous posts.) I asked Mary Beth to give me some input on her favorite images from the day. (I added a few of my favorites to the mix as well.)

Look at these happy expressions! I love you can look on a couple's faces and see joy!

After the rehearsal everyone moved to the Hampton Inn for the rehearsal dinner.

I think her dress was absolutely beautiful! When we met each other to go over details for the wedding she brought a picture of it to show me and I fell in love with it then!

This one was my absolute favorite of Mary Beth's individual portraits!

Here's the lovely bride and a few of her bridesmaids.

Here are some favorites from Brad's individual portraits!

And of course no wedding is complete without some couple shots. Right?

This was a very pretty church. I'm so glad the weather was good for outdoor portraits!

This was a favorite of mine!

Funny Side story: As I was taking this series of portraits, I took my camera off of the tripod for some handheld shots. As I turned back around to put the camera back on the tripod, I ran face first into it. If you know me well, it will not surprise you when I say that I busted my lip and there was blood everywhere. However, the show must go on and we finished up the session busted lip and all. I'm sure Brad & Mary Beth were completely distracted by my early Halloween-like appearance while finishing up these shots..lol What was Jeremy doing? Laughing at me for being clumsy as usual. He did find me a napkin though! Anyways, these turned out to be some of my favorite shots from the day. I love stained glass windows, inside and out!

Ok, and this one three!

I really liked this one as well.
I really liked their cake. I'm a huge fan of monogram type toppers!

I liked this one of her wedding favors, so I'll throw it in the mix for the blog too :)

Here they are at the reception. I like this picture of the garter removal an awful lot!

After the reception was over we went outside to get a few final shots before the happy couple drove off into the sunset. This is a top five favorite of mine from the entire day!
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

Attention Brad & Mary Beth fans! If you like what you see here let Mary Beth and Brad know! If they get 25 comments from different people about this blog they'll get his and hers set of keychains with their favorite image from the day to carry around with them. Make sure you leave your name along with the comment so that they will know who loves them!

(I'd also like to thank the two of you for taking time to focus on the couple pictures that day!) *Usually, for some strange reason couples don't get much time to take pictures alone together on their wedding day, because they have so many other responsibilities and things on the agenda for that day. Mary Beth and Brad decided to see each other prior to the ceremony for a private photo session and then took time to go outside with me after the reception. I'm so glad they made this decision!

Newsom/Mullins Sneak Peak..(aka) All of the Little Details

I'm working on Mary Beth & Brad's wedding and have just finally started to get to a point to where I know which images will more than likely end up in the final album. This is a very exciting time for me!

Anyways, as I'm really getting into the editing process now I find little things along the way that make me happy. The little details that this couple spent so much time planning for. I'll post a few on this sneak peak and then of course they'll get their official detailed wedding blog a little later. I hope you guys are having fun on the honeymoon. I know you'll be anxious to see some of your pictures very soon.

Mary Beth's shoes were great right side up, but there was a secret she was hiding on the bottom of them .

Her "something blue" was on the bottom of her heels. I thought this was such a sweet touch!

Can you see me in the rings? I can. lol

I kept rearranging the rings, trying to get a unique shot of them. Then saw this beautiful table in the center of the entry way. I admit that there was a giant bunch of flowers sitting over top of the star burst pattern in the center of the table, so I made Jeremy hold it while I got this shot. He may be in it too if you look close enough!

Here's a shot of the bride's dress. I loved the details on it!

And one of the bride's bouquet!

I think this picture screams happiness!

And last but not least, a teaser of the bride and groom during the ceremony! There will be lots more to come in the following days!

Sarah & Drew's Engagement Session

Ready to see some of my favorite images from Sarah & Drew's session? OK, here goes!

Two Saturdays ago I did an engagement session with Sarah & Drew. They'll be getting married next Summer. They live in Richmond and the forecast was giving rain the entire week before their shoot. I just knew we would get rained out. Over the phone Sarah remained completely optimistic that we would be able to shoot and the rain would cease. She was right! We were left with a slightly damp, chili, foggy day but we came out with some great images despite the blustery weather.

We had intentions of getting the really beautiful fall mountains in the background. These were taken at the top of Bob Amos Park in Pikeville. The fog blocked the mountains more than I would have liked, but I still really love some of the pictures that we captured here. The grass was super wet, so I had them sit on my reflector board. That thing comes in so handy!

I love all of the color in this one!

This one is definitely on my top 3!

I think they both look so cute here!

I'm a big fan of holding hands and walking pictures :)

Genuine laughter & happiness....LOVE this one
Hello pretty bridge in Pikeville!
I really liked this one. I must give pose credit to Sarah. It was her idea!

Sarah & Drew I really hope you enjoy your images. I really enjoyed working with the two of you!
Sarah & Drew fans don't forget... 25 comments = 1 free 5x7 with their package order! Don't forget to leave your name along with your comments so Sarah & Drew will know who really loves them! :)
