Branham/Tackett Wedding 5/16/09

Tasia and Bo's wedding was just delightful! I got to spend the weekend with people that I grew up around! I took a trip back to Pike County for the weekend, Long Fork to be exact. I got to pass my old elementry school and lots of the places that I used to drive by on a daily basis, but rarely ever get to see now that I live an hour and a half away. I make the trip to see my mom quite often, but rarely get any further than the street she lives on. That's one of the things that makes these weddings so fun! I love seeing my long lost neighbors, former teachers, and classmates.

Tasia had a gorgeous dress and some equally gorgeous flowers. But NOTHING topped her eyes. This is one of my favorite pictures of the day. Just look at these eyes! My intent was to make the flowers stand out, but I think her blue eyes overpowered the flower!

Another favorite part of the day was when Bo brought his bride down the steps during the ceremony and sang "I want to be your everything" while playing guitar for her. As he stated at the rehearsal, "I want to sing to her Uncle Jessie style." Anyone who grew up watching Full House realizes just how sweet this comment was. It brought a smile to my face then and it does again as I type this. I'll remember it forever.

Jeremy caught this jewel of a moment during the reception. The cutting of the cake got a little messy and he was standing in the perfect spot to get it!

Last, but not least I shall part with what was in my opinion, one of the more comical moments from the day. I caught Tasia and Bo's Dad's sneaking off during the receiving line. Looks like they both had the same idea in mind! I think its classic and the truth of the matter is, weddings are stressful on everyone, especially for parents. At least they look happy!

Just a few more...

I wanted to post just a few more portraits from Amanda & Shane's engagement session.

I thought this one was casual and cute!

Practicing for the wedding kiss!

And my favorite from most any session, the dip!

I'm very excited to be a part of their wedding! I'm anticipating a great day!

Amanda & Shane

The kickoff to Memorial Day weekend was a great one! We had perfect weather, and a slighly overcast day. (a photographer's dream!) Ok, so it was a little hot, but we'll ban that from memory and think of the pretty day instead!
Jeremy and I headed off to Chief Logan Park where that we met up with Amanda & Shane, an energetic couple that will be getting married in December of this year. They were a lot of fun to work with and I'm excited that I got to shoot their engagement pictures! I love it when I get to know a couple prior to their wedding! It helps me to get comfortable with them and figure out which poses work best for them. It also helps the couple to get used to me, because on their wedding day they see me more than they see most members of their family. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures from Amanda & Shane's Lifestyle/Engagement session!
They were such a cute couple to work with!

I thought this one was a lot of fun! Surprise Shane!

En Pointe Dance Studio

May 8th went exactly as planned. I showed up that evening to pick up my daughters recital costume on time, and started putting up the backdrops for the next day. I wanted to get as much done that night as far as placement of lighting, backdrops steamed, etc. so that early the next morning I could start my day long dance portrait session. Little did I know that the clouds were changing. May 9th, picture day, went nothing like I had expected!
I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to find Delbarton in the middle of a flood! Quickly I learned that not only Delbarton was covered in water, but most of the area was experiencing horrible flooding. I ended up making it to the studio by mid day to take a few pictures of the girls who lived very close by the studio and have spent the majority of the evening hours this week making up for lost time on Saturday.

I consider myself lucky to be able to make things up this week, as many of the good people in this area remain without electricity and water. Many are homeless and it breaks my heart to see people suffering. I hope that everyone gets back on their feet very quickly!
I hope to be adding some more portraits and maybe some group pictures to this post soon, so check back soon!

A Day With Chattaroy Headstart

I spent the morning with the wonderful children that make up Chattaroy Headstart. I must say, these are some well behaved children as well! Most of them greeted me with a smile and were willing to talk to me about some of their favorite things. To truly enjoy a photo shoot, I feel like you can't rush through it. In order to have a child respond to your direction, they need to be comfortable with you. These little ones were so easy to talk to and were so adorable that things seemed to fall into place quite easily.

While working with the children I was asked if I enjoy what I do. Of course! I get to be with people during some of the happiest times in life and capture the memory for them. How could I not enjoy that? Especially when there are cute kids to make everything a little more fun and entertaining. That's something to be greatful for!
